Devils Marbles Ellery Creek Big Hole 29th June
We arrived in Alice around 1pm and decided to head out to
the West Macdonald ranges for the night and before we left there we had to book
into a park for a couple of nights had trouble getting a spot eventually found
on at the big 4
By the time we got to Ellery Creek it was 3pm and not sure
we would find a spot, the only spot left was on a bit of a slope and we even
had to sleep up the other end of the bed.
Daly Waters Pub – Devils Marbles 28th June
We got away around 9:00am today as we had a far drive not
sure we were going to make it to the marbles, had a quick stop at three ways
before heading on.
Through Tennant creek around 3pm and we did arrive at the
marbles at 4pm and could not get into the camp ground full. So we hung around the day use area all
afternoon and waited for it to get dark before setting up as no camping here
but there was now where else to go.
Bitter Springs – Daly Waters Pub 27th June
We went down to the springs for a swim before leaving today
and it was very nice, we were only heading off to Daly waters for the night
which was not very far.
We arrived at the pub around 12:30 lined up to get into the
park as it is always this busy in the winter.
Had all afternoon in the dusty park lucky the wind was not
blowing and at 5pm went to the pub for happy hr and dinner was for 7pm. There
was entertainment all the time and we had Beef and Barra for dinner very nice.
Douglas Hot Springs – Bitter Springs 26th June
Before heading off today we decided to take a drive out to
Butterfly gorge it was only 17ks 4x4 track and took around 1hr to get there.
Walked into the gorge not much to see even tried the walk to
the top no view from there so back to the car and return to get the vans.
Grab a few things at Katherine Woolworths and some more
Barramundi. Now onto Bitter Springs getting very late now just made it in time
to walk down to the springs for a swim and had to walk back to the van in the
dark.
Litchfield Tourist Park – Douglas Hot Springs 25th June
Jack drove us to Berry Springs to see if the car was ready
and as we arrived they were filling it up with water so things must have gone
well and now we could get on our way after we fixed up the bill.
We had to return to the caravan park 3/4hrs away to pick up the
vans before heading off so it was now around 11:30am and the day was getting
on.
At 12:30 we arrived at the Adelaide WWII cementry which was
very interesting we had a walk around before having lunch in the park.
Finally we made it to the hot springs found a spot a bit
crowed and very dusty, changed into swimmers and walked down to the hot springs
in parts it was very hot so you had to find a spot down river that you could
sit in.

Litchfield N.P Monday 22nd June
This morning we drove into Berry Springs around 1hr from
here to see what was happening with the car as the phone service is not real
good. We arrived and they told us it might be 2,000.00 to fix and a week.
As we are in Jack’s car now back to Litchfield for the last
lot of falls first call was Bamboo Creek abandoned tin mine and lunch before
moving onto Buley rockhole which was very crowed but lovely the next one is
Florence falls with 135 stairs down not hard though very crowed here to but
nice water was very cool.
Litchfield N.P Sunday 21st June
Today we all went in Jacks car as we thought it would not be
good to drive ours with the noise it was making. Our first stop was walker
creek this was a 3.5km return walk to the top with campsite along the way.
Now onto the Cascades and it was about 4km return walk in
with some rock hopping at the end and we had it mostly to ourselves it was a
good spot too. Next stop back to Wangi
Falls the other had a 1.7km walk around the top and I decided to stay near the
plunge pool where it was cool and when they returned we all had a swim before
heading back to camp.
We called into to have a look at Tolmer falls as it was only
a lookout there. When we got back to
camp we called NRMA to get someone to have a look at our car and when they
arrived they suggested we put it on a truck back to Berry Springs and we could
choose the next day what we wanted to do with it.
Litchfield N.P Saturday 20th June (NT school hols started)
We had to travel from here into the national park so our
first port of call was Blyth Homestead then Tjaynera Falls which was a 1.7km
walk into the falls not hard though nice spot had a swim. Now onto Wangi Falls
after having some lunch.
Berry Springs – Litchfield N.P 19th June

through the back way, we did not get far and Jack’s engine warning light came
on in his car we had a look for awhile and decided to head back to Darwin
(Toyota) to see what the problem was.
We hung around there all day and they came up with the
battery was on its way out so they replaced that and around 3pm we were on our
way out of Darwin again.
We arrived at Litchfield Tourist park outside the national
park around 5pm so we decided it was time to pull in there and stay.
