Litchfield Tourist Park 24th June

Another day waiting for our car to be fixed and Paul rang them several times and now they are saying it will not be ready until later in the day that means tomorrow.  So we filled in the day reading, cooking, reading and waiting.

We did home some entertainment today as a wide load went passed so that was something different.  4pm and we still have not heard anything, so it looks as though it will be tomorrow now.

This morning we drove into Berry Springs around 1hr from here to see what was happening with the car as the phone service is not real good. We arrived and they told us it might be 2,000.00 to fix and a week.

As we are in Jack’s car now back to Litchfield for the last lot of falls first call was Bamboo Creek abandoned tin mine and lunch before moving onto Buley rockhole which was very crowed but lovely the next one is Florence falls with 135 stairs down not hard though very crowed here to but nice water was very cool.

Back to camp to find out more on the car as we could not get phone it was into Batchler phone service good there, the better news on the car was a egr pipe had cracked and hopfully we will have it back by Wednesday.

Litchfield N.P Sunday 21st June

Today we all went in Jacks car as we thought it would not be good to drive ours with the noise it was making. Our first stop was walker creek this was a 3.5km return walk to the top with campsite along the way.

Now onto the Cascades and it was about 4km return walk in with some rock hopping at the end and we had it mostly to ourselves it was a good spot too.  Next stop back to Wangi Falls the other had a 1.7km walk around the top and I decided to stay near the plunge pool where it was cool and when they returned we all had a swim before heading back to camp.

We called into to have a look at Tolmer falls as it was only a lookout there.  When we got back to camp we called NRMA to get someone to have a look at our car and when they arrived they suggested we put it on a truck back to Berry Springs and we could choose the next day what we wanted to do with it.

Litchfield N.P Saturday 20th June (NT school hols started)

We had to travel from here into the national park so our first port of call was Blyth Homestead then Tjaynera Falls which was a 1.7km walk into the falls not hard though nice spot had a swim. Now onto Wangi Falls after having some lunch.

It was crowed at these falls but very nice had a great swim and now it was 3pm, we jumped into the cars and when we started ours it was making a very bad noise so all out to have a look and decided to go straight back to camp 52ks from here.

Berry Springs – Litchfield N.P 19th June

We left camp early today 8:30am heading for Litchfield N.P through the back way, we did not get far and Jack’s engine warning light came on in his car we had a look for awhile and decided to head back to Darwin (Toyota) to see what the problem was.

We hung around there all day and they came up with the battery was on its way out so they replaced that and around 3pm we were on our way out of Darwin again.

We arrived at Litchfield Tourist park outside the national park around 5pm so we decided it was time to pull in there and stay.

Darwin – Berry Springs 18th June

We are heading out of Darwin but we will be back great place, now onto Berry Springs to see what it offers we arrived at the Berry Springs reserve had a lovely swim in the spring we spent a far bit of time here as it was a great place had lunch in the car park.

We travelled a bit further to Tumbling waters caravan park, found a spot for the vans before heading out to have a look at Mandorah which was on the other side of Darwin.

Found a WWII crashed aircraft in the bush and then headed back to camp, next time on our must list is the animal park and crocodilius park.

More shopping this morning as we are heading off tomorrow down to Berry Springs, it is another very hot day and after all the washing was done and shopping put away it was off to the pool.

In the late afternoon we decided as it was very hot to go and have another swim in the pool before getting ready for dinner.

Corroboree Park Taven – Darwin 14th June

Well today we had book a trip on the Spectacular Jumping crocodile cruise which left from the window on the wetland 27ks up the road on the Adelaide River and we had to be the by 8:30am so up early again.

What a great cruise and we saw a lot of crocs here and they did jump how amazing.  Our cruise was for 1hr and I think they had 4 crocs jumping fantastic.

After we looked through the visitors centre there which was very good we made our way into Darwin found our park (Free spirit Resort) set up camp in the heat again.

That afternoon we drove into town to find the visitors centre which was closed so we went to the

Mindil night markets and they were pretty good had lots of food stalls and other things as well stayed until around 7:30pm before making out way back to camp.

Jabiru – Corroboree Park Taven 13th June

Not sure what we are going to see on our way today and not far out of town we found a sign to Mamukala bird watching so we dropped in there to have a look.  We had a quick stop at Bark Hut Inn to have a look around, a lot of bikes there having a day out.

Arrived at Corroboree Park to stay the night as we wanted to go on another billabong for a sunset tour which we did and it was great as we saw some different birds from what we had seen on the last one.

Jabiru 12th June

Today we thought we would look around and see what we could find, so we made our way into the northern land council to see if we could get permits to Coburg and we found we had to apply to National parks for them so we decided to get a permit to go and visit Injuluk which was just in Arnhem land a little way.

We arrived at the art and craft centre in Injuluk and what a great place the paintings where fantastic and they had some of the locals there painting which was very interesting so we had to buy one after a lot of working out which one to get.

On our way home we decided to call into Ubir to see some more rock art and it was not as clear as the day before but there was a great lookout so we sat there for awhile.  We called into Cahill crossing to watch some people fishing and we saw a big croc hanging around there.

Cooinda – Jabiru 11th June

So today we are moving on and on our way we found a look out to go and see, we could not see much once up the top as the trees had grown and was blocking the great view.

We moved onto Nourlangi to see some rock art which took us on a 1.5 loop walk and the art was very good. Then made our way to the Kakadu visitors centre what a great place should have one on the south end of the park.

Once into Jabiru we found a caravan park which a guys at the visitors centre had recommended, after we got settled we took a drive into the town filled up with some fuel found the grocery shop had a look around and picked up a few supplies then went back to the park for a swim another very hot day.
